Westfield Township Fire Station

The Westfield Township Trustees, the Fire Department and DS Architecture have spent over a year planning a facility that will meet the needs of the community long term at a reasonable cost to our residents. The issue will appear on the ballot as a community services building for fire protection( approximately 90% of the facility), road maintenance and health and safety. This all inclusive labeling enabled the Trustees to spread the cost of the facility over the entire service area of our fire department, which includes the non incorporated portion of the township and the Village of Westfield Center.

We are proud of our accomplishments and would enjoy sharing them with you, our residents. You should have an opportunity to ask questions to be better informed for your vote on May 2. There will be two open sessions in which you can do this:

We will also hold an open house at the old fire station in the village from 9:00-1:00 on Saturday, April 15. This will provide you with an opportunity to assess the need for a new facility.

I would also like to take this opportunity to correct a cost figure that was erroneously reported earlier. The yearly cost will be $77.00 per $100,000 based on the auditor’s appraised value of the property(not sale value). This is approximately two thin dimes a day.
